Maintenance, Greenford Flyover

This cherry picker and other serious looking pieces of equipment turned up yesterday. They may have something to do with a BBC investigation into the state of London’s flyovers. A year ago Hammersmith Flyover, also in west London, was closed suddenly when it was discovered that it was in danger of collapsing. The road closure caused traffic chaos and a similar situation could arise if Greenford Flyover was found to have similar problems. The BBC report describes it as having eight visible defects. The maintenance activity hasn’t stopped pedestrians taking a risk by crossing the slip road.

Update: The Flyover will be closed over Christmas and New Year. Click here for Ealing Council’s announcement.
