Shree Jalaram Mandir, Oldfield Lane South

Today is Diwali and preparations were being made to mark the event at the Shree Jalaram Mandir, Greenford’s local centre for Hindu worship. The Shree is an example of the extraordinary generosity and community spirit shown by this faith. They offer a free lunch to all comers every day and try to take an active interest in issues affecting the area, making particular efforts to network with other faiths. This building was originally Greenford’s synagogue but today the orange flag with the image of the monkey god Hanuman is displayed above it. The shelves are where worshippers leave their shoes before entering.
