Dixit’s Convenience, Wood End Gardens

If you’re young and still living at home, or hard up and living in shared accommodation it can be difficult to find things to do or get some privacy. A lot of houses in the area are now in multiple occupation and you will find quite a few people having a drink out of doors in all weathers. They’re obliged to smoke outside because it’s a requirement of the tenancy. Both these activities might once have taken place in the local pub. The increasing cost of drinks served in that environment compared to the cost of the same thing from a shop means that pubs are going out of business at a disturbing rate. The smoking ban in pubs has also put off regular customers who would rather drink at home than have to stand outside when they want a cigarette.
