This is one of four cricket matches that were taking place this afternoon on a piece of land that has been a dedicated sports ground for over a century. Originally farmland, it was bought by University College, London for this purpose and a pavilion, with a cricket bat shaped wind vane, built in 1910. At one point it was considered as the site for Greenford’s new high school but the proposal was controversial and rejected by residents.
