Glaxo Sports and Social Club, seen from Legion Road

Yesterday’s post was about an established school – today’s is about one that hasn’t been built yet but the countdown has started. William Perkin Church of England School is scheduled to open in September 2013 on this site, presently occupied by the Glaxo Sports and Social Club. This project came about as a direct result of pressure from parents and teachers in the area who despaired at the lack of a feeder school for local children. There have been two public consultations this year, in February and May, followed by the announcement of the choice of name in June and the submission of the planning application. Banners promoting an opening evening on Thursday 13th September are now on display around the site. Those wishing to attend it can click here for more information.
