1910 electricity feeder pillar, Rockware Avenue

Hundreds of people pass this small piece of local history every day without noticing it. It is now just over one hundred years old but at the time it was installed it must have represented the cutting edge of technology. The Latin motto, “Respice – Prospice”, means “Remember the past – Look to the future”. I hope that these words will be borne in mind and that measures will be taken to preserve it as this feeder pillar is in the path of the proposed high speed rail link.
