Recycling collection, Bennetts Avenue

The weekly recycling collections are one of the best things about living in Greenford. Residents sort out their household waste which is then left at the edge of their properties. Plastic goes into white bags seen on the right and food scraps are put into a small green lidded container. Glass, paper, cardboard, metal, batteries, paper cartons and textiles go into the larger green boxes. Anything that can’t be recycled and therefore goes to landfill is in the black bags. Since the collections began we have had a lot less to put into the black bags and ended up buying a smaller bin. I appreciate the work done by the crews of these trucks because the job must be very unpleasant in hot weather but they are very organised and efficient, living up to the slogan “Making this a better place to live”.
