This is the new extension to a Catholic school in the centre of Greenford that has cost £26 million under the government’s Schools for the Future scheme. Local residents may be hoping that this project really does become the valuable resource for the community that they were promised, as they have had to endure considerable problems with traffic and parking during its construction. I have concerns about a school of this size being so close to a main road, especially when over 1500 children leave at the same time at the end of the day. There has been an effort to mitigate the impact of this daily exodus by putting a pedestrian crossing closer to the school gate. Opponents of this sort of development are up against some very slick marketing which is also used to sell the school to parents of potential pupils.
