Tug boat, Grand Union Canal

The Grand Union Canal between Greenford Road and Oldfield Lane North. This little tug is called “Constance” and is used to tow narrowboats and other craft. It belongs to Crowther and Towns Ltd who also paint boats and carry goods. It is easy to forget that canals were once associated with industry and trade rather than leisure and conservation. I can’t think of a nicer way to get a parcel delivered from one side of London to the other.
