Morning traffic, slip road, Greenford Flyover

The eastbound slip road at Greenford Flyover at around 7.30am. My partner pointed out that this is what most people think of when Greenford is mentioned and that the slip road is the first thing they see of it. It opened in 1979 after some opposition, replacing a large roundabout, and although the road was already there it slashed Greenford in half at its heart. Oldfield Lane was divided into North and South and pedestrians have to walk through a subway to get from one section to the other. To me it represents a time when the needs of pedestrians and the community it was imposed upon came second to cars. Some might say that this attitude persists and that public consultations are rarely worth the paper they use up.
