It must be very tempting, a free parking space in an avenue of lovely horse chestnut trees, just a few minutes walk from Greenford Station. There is an advantage in being able to leave your car in the suburbs and pay a little less to travel into central London. Unfortunately there are very few pedestrians around during the working day, no one to put off someone who can break into a car in seconds and just walk off. The local police have been active in persuading car owners to keep anything left in their cars out of sight but it isn’t unusual to come across a car with a smashed window, or fragments of glass where a car has been parked.

I have a memory of Greenford Road. I was playing golf at West Middlesex golf course, which is traversed by the road. I am not very good. I hooked a shot massively, which meant it sailed leftwards over the the trees onto Greenford Road. I am certain I heard the crunch of golf ball on car roof! I’ve always hoped I was wrong, but….
Well, it serves them right for parking near a golf course!!! You realise they’ll know who it was when they read this…!
